Shouldn't a Catholic appreciate more someone who fights for peace, than those who monger wars?

Shouldn't a Christian consider the message of peace and that of Jesus Christ, a message of sanity opposing the madness of the world, even if the world calls sanity "madness"?

Dear Joe,

Cindy Sheehan is a ridiculous, hateful, and opportunistic woman. She accuses the president of premeditating the murder of her son and other soldiers, calls him the "biggest terrorist in the world", says America is not worth dying for, and shows no aversion to unleashing foul-mouthed tirades against those with whom she disagrees.

I have no beef with those who express disagreement with the war, but Ms. Sheehan does so in an illogical, obnoxious, and downright morally repellant manner.

She apparently thinks her son either stupid, gullible, or evil, for he was either too dumb to know he was getting involved in the greatest evil of our time (the US war effort), too naive to realize he was being hornswaggled by the Bushies, or so wicked that he acutaly wanted to join such a depraved effort.

Yet Cindy mindlessly parrots the garbage coming from Michael Moore and his ilk without ever addressing the fact she is really impugning the integrity of her own son, who is probably rolling over in his grave at this very moment!

With respect to your question about a Catholic "appreciating someone who fights for peace," perhaps you are unfamiliar with the Just War Doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. The Church has left the application of this doctrine to governmental authorities, and there are many prominent theologians who recognize that the efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq clearly fall under the dictates of this doctrine and are in fact just wars.

But again, as I said, I always appreciate principled, logical, respectful arguments both for and against the war. Cindy Sheehan draws my ire because her method and madness demand it.

Thanks for checking in, and God Bless.
